HEADMASTER performs CNA testing in South Dakota. Qualifications for testing include:
- Candidate must have successfully completed a training program and a competency evaluation program approved by the department.
- Candidate is already enrolled in an LPN or RN nursing program that has been approved by the SDBON and who has successfully completed the course, Fundamentals of Nursing.
- Candidates for the state-certified nurse aide exam who have a medical background in other areas may be granted a waiver of completing the South Dakota Nurse Aide Training Program.

Renewal
CNAs in South Dakota are required to renew their CNA certification every 2 years.
